National Cup Round 2
DynoMites wishes to thank everyone who helped with Round 2 of Climbing NZ's National Cup Series, held recently at HangDog Climbing Centre. We are very grateful to Climbing NZ for all their many hours of work running the series and to HangDog for hosting the event - a huge job - and for their ongoing support of DynoMites.
The competition was made possible by volunteers generously giving their time to help with belaying, spotting, route setting, judging, timekeeping, clearing holds off the walls, and providing food and other assistance. About eighty competitors from around New Zealand took part in the competition. Many of them commented on the excellent quality of the routes and how much they enjoyed the competition. Our thanks to all the volunteers. DynoMites is very grateful for the support and encouragement that the Wellington climbing community gives our young climbers.
Our congratulations to Levi Offner, winner of Cactus Climbing Equipment's prize draw for a $200 gift voucher to be redeemed at Cactus's online store!
We wish to thank the competition sponsors for their generosity in donating spot prizes and other goods and services for the competition:

9 August 2008
DynoMites Climbing Club wishes to thank the sponsors and volunteers who contributed to Event 3 of Climbing New Zealand's 2008 National Cup Series, held at HangDog Climbing Gym on the weekend of 2-3 August. Assisting Climbing NZ and HangDog to hold a national competition is a huge undertaking for our small club. We would not be able to do so without generous support from the Wellington climbing community and sponsors. Our thanks to the route setters, who worked long hours late at night to produce top quality routes. We received many positive comments on the routes from participants and spectators. Thanks to the belayers and spotters for your diligence and for waiting through breaks in the schedule.
As well as enjoying the competition climbs, climbers from DynoMites and from other clubs around the country appreciate the opportunity that competitions provide to get together with fellow enthusiasts. They have created a supportive and friendly national community.
Thank you to the competition sponsors who provided sport prizes and equipment:

17 August 2007
The final event in the 2007 National Cup Series, held at The Rockhouse in Tauranga at the end of July, was enjoyed by all. Rare entertainment was provided by DynoMites climbers Cieran and Bob: Cieran clipping while hanging by one hand from the ceiling, and Bob dynoing during the Speed competition with such power that the hold came off the wall and Bob fell away with it in his hands. Photos from the competition can be viewed on our Photos page.
Event 2 NZSF National Cup
Lower Hutt 2nd and 3rd of June 2007.The second leg of the National Cup was hosted by the DynoMites Climbing Club, with the support of the Hangdog Climbing Gym, at Lower Hutt over the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of June.
The competition had close to ninety entries over all the grades.
The weekend was a great success with the competitors facing challenging climbs, in turn giving the climbers an opportunity to display improving technical ability. There were some extremely competitive climbs in all Grades, and some exciting climbing on Saturday night in the Open Competition. It was also great to see a large number of junior competitors giving it a go.
Special thanks must be given to the forerunners, Tyler Culpepper and James Field-Mitchell, who put in extremely long hours, to ensure that the climbs placed on the wall were of a high quality.
The Results of DynoMites climbers can be found on our Results page. The official results for the weekend will be found on the NZSF website.
The competition, following on from the first event in Christchurch, illustrated the increasing dominance of the climbers from the Flying Geckos Club based in Christchurch. The Geckos now have a substantial lead in the Teams Cup competition, followed by DynoMites Climbing Club. The Bay of Plenty Sports Club based at the Mount Maunganui Rock House is currently in third place.
This is the first time for a number of years that the Rock House Club has not been at the forefront of the interclub competition.
DynoMites want to thank all the sponsors who supplied spot prizes and equipment for the competition. These are HangDog, Sky City Cinemas, Mountain Designs, Bivouac, Mainly Tramping, Orb Communications, Mudge Builders, Hirequip, FFA Climbing, NZ Police, Whittakers Chocolates and NZ Alpine Club.
The organising committee from the DynoMites club also wish to record their gratitude to all the people who contributed their time to make the weekend the success it was.
Hope to see you all in Wanaka!
Grant Atkin
President DynoMites Climbing Club
